Driving and handling

Basic controls

Mount your own vehicle with right-click. Forward/backward movement controls acceleration and braking; left/right controls steering. On a normal Java keyboard these are W/S and A/D, but use your configured movement keys.

Start on flat, open ground. Accelerate gradually, test braking, and practice reversing before driving through a town or narrow entrance. Dismount with your normal dismount control only after stopping somewhere safe.

Cornering a car

Cars turn around their rear axle so the nose leads the turn and the rear wheels follow. Steering becomes less sharp and responds more gradually as speed increases. A turn you can make while parking needs a wider path at speed.

Brake before the bend, then steer smoothly. Holding full steering at high speed is not a substitute for slowing down. A stationary or blocked car cannot rotate freely in place. Reverse steering follows the direction of travel, so practice it in an empty area.

Read the driving display

When enabled, the action bar shows speed, fuel, and lighting indicators. Check the displayed speed unit before comparing numbers. Brake, reverse, and turn indicators reflect driving inputs; they do not change your right of way around other players.

Cars can show body roll as they turn. This is part of their appearance, not a promise that a tight turn is safe at any speed.

Parking and pickup

Stop, dismount, and sneak-right-click your parked vehicle to pick it up. On a car, a front-facing empty-hand sneak-click opens the hood instead; use the side or rear for pickup. You need ownership and an available interaction.

If a vehicle will not move, check fuel and maintenance before buying a replacement.
