Chat, item previews, and Discord
Chat clearly
Use the normal chat screen for public conversation. For private messages, use the server's available messaging commands and check the recipient's actual account name. A nickname or tag can change how a name looks without changing the account behind it.
Share an item preview
Chat can include interactive previews of held items, inventories, and ender chests. The standard placeholders include [item], [inv], and [ender] when enabled for you. Hold the intended item before sending an item preview.
A preview shares information; it does not transfer the item or give another player permission to take it. Inspect what you are about to reveal before sharing an inventory or ender chest publicly.
Join Discord
Use the Discord link for community chat, announcements, and support. Linked game/Discord chat can carry messages beyond the people currently standing near you.
If account linking is offered, follow the server's own linking prompt and enter its code only in the intended place. Never send passwords or account login codes in public chat.
For spoken conversation, see voice chat.
